Goals
We have certain goals in life we would like to accomplish before our time runs out on this earth. From small to large, the meaningless to the meaningful. The small things in the beginning like doing laundry or the dishes. To the larger goals of getting married and having children. If we get to that point in our lives, we start trying to instill the same goals upon our children, and to want them to make their own goals in life as well, and to have hopes for the future. Because without having goals in life there is really no life to live. It just becomes a mundane existence that isn’t worth it.
I personally decided not to list any specific goals for the simple fact of the matter. Everyone has a different path in life they are trying to succeed in finding, and with every individual they all have their own goals in life they want to see accomplished.

Do you really think there is no life without goals? I think that’s interesting…. I wouldn’t necessarily group the smaller ‘requirements’ of life (i.e. the laundry) with say a career goal or something. To me they are very separate things. Doing the laundry is something we inevitably end up doing, while as a career or marriage is much more a matter of choice and can only be accomplished with both commitment and a strong desire to acheive those goals (meaning: it requires more than 5-10 minutes of sticking to it).
Verily, I think it is only the modern human being that seems to believe that ‘goals’ are what define living. For any other species it is more or less a day-to-day existence (though there are exceptions). It doesn’t have to be interesting; life isn’t about things being interesting. It’s simply about surviving. Breathing. Eating, maintaining life, and so on and so forth.
What is ironic is that it was in creating civilization that life suddenly became boring. Now that we are no longer running for our lives while hunting down prey, we’ve gotten bored. We have to have something to fill up all the time that would have otherwise been filled quite easily (that and we didn’t live very long in the first place…).
Before it was about where the next meal came from, now it’s about watching the next movie or meeting the next person. Kind of sick, at least from my perspective. The fact that out of every possibility this is what we chose for our lives…it makes me wonder at times.
